In the first few months of ELA we have been discerning The Catcher in the Rye byreading responsively by reading, re-reading, taking notes on themes, characters, vocabulary words etc. This is all part of planning to have meaningful discussion around the book by collaborating and to eventually form conclusionsthat you will write for your 5 page argumentative essay. Sp for SLCs show the planning and discerning work you have been been doing while closely reading The Catcher in the Rye. You can show a section from your notebook that demonstrates your ability summarize effectively, to read with attention to details, reference quotes and analyze them thoroughly in order to form strong conclusions about characters, themes, etc.
So What should I include: Must Include:
Photos of pages of your notes. (It could 2 pages or more) This photo should be from a page that shows how you are reading responsively and deeply. So pick your best notes!
The Plan and Discern rubrics and how you are demonstrating that you are Meeting or Exceeding the the Standard
Show the rubrics
Write a summary of the outcome target
Reflect on what you are doing well and any next goals you have
Other options to include:
Annotations of any quotes (Silent Conversations, Mr. Antolini, Immature Man)
Reading quizzes
Reflection on discussions / participation (with collaborate outcome)
Dictionary in the Rye with the Be Precise Outcome
